A consumer estimate of calories burned is MET × body weight (kg) × duration in hours. Walking uses MET 3.5 here, running 9.8, cycling 7.5, yoga 2.5. Forty minutes of walking at 68 kg is about 158.7 kcal. That is a Compendium-of-Physical-Activities style sketch, not a VO2 mask, and not medical advice.
A screening number, not a diagnosis
Walkers on the Sabarmati riverfront and runners in Cubbon Park both over-trust a watch. IndiaKit shows the MET identity so a 40-minute walk is not confused with a 40-minute run. It will not prescribe exercise for heart disease.
The estimate we use
kcal = MET × kg × minutes/60. Defaults: 68 kg, walk, 40 minutes, MET 3.5 → about 158.7 kcal.
Wrist watches use their own models. A 5K in Bengaluru heat at noon is harder than MET 9.8 assumes.
If a cardiologist set limits, obey those. This page is not a stress test.

Common questions
Why is yoga so low compared with running?
Because the MET we assigned is 2.5 versus 9.8. A power-yoga class could be higher; a restorative class lower. The dropdown is a sketch.
Does this include afterburn (EPOC)?
No. Only duration × MET × kg.
Can I use this to treat obesity?
No. Weight management needs clinical advice. This is a toy estimate of activity energy.
