EPF-style 12% + 12% compounding
Provident Fund Calculator
Employees’ Provident Fund typically takes 12% of PF wages from the employee and 12% from the employer (with EPS carved out of the employer share under EPFO rules). This page treats 24% of the monthly basic you type as a combined monthly contribution, then compounds it like a monthly annuity at the PF interest you type (default 8.25%). ₹30,000 basic for 10 years becomes about ₹13.45 lakh in the sketch.
Why CTC is not in-hand
A shop-floor supervisor in Tiruppur and a designer in Gurgaon both under-count EPF because they only look at the ₹1,800 line. When PF wages are the full basic of ₹30,000, monthly combined contribution in this model is ₹7,200. That is a serious savings engine if the establishment is covered.
What we subtract
Monthly contribution = 24% of monthly basic. Future value uses the SIP-style monthly annuity at the annual PF rate. Defaults: ₹30,000, 10 years, 8.25% → monthly ₹7,200, total contributed ₹8,64,000, estimated balance ≈ ₹13,44,925.
Actual EPFO accounts split EPS and EPF, use a wage ceiling for some establishments, and credit interest as notified. The 8.25% default is a planning rate, not this year’s official interest until you confirm on epfindia.gov.in.
IndiaKit never asks for UAN or OTP. Use the UMANG or EPFO portal for your real ledger.
₹30,000 basic, 10 years of EPF in Tiruppur
Murugan’s PF wages are ₹30,000. Over 10 years at 8.25% the combined 24% sketch grows to about ₹13.45 lakh after ₹8.64 lakh of contributions. He still logs into the EPFO passbook because EPS diverting part of the employer share will make the real EPF line different.
Payroll is still the source of truth
24% of typed basic, no wage ceiling toggle, no EPS split, interest rate is an input. Indicative. Official: epfindia.gov.in. No UAN please.
Common questions
Why 24% if my payslip shows 12%?
Employee 12% plus employer 12% (before EPS split) is the usual statutory pair. Your payslip’s employee line is only half of this model’s monthly contribution.
Is 8.25% the official EPF rate this year?
It is the default input, a familiar recent region of notified EPF interest. Confirm the notified rate on epfindia.gov.in for the year you care about.
What about the ₹15,000 wage ceiling?
Many private employers still cap PF wages at ₹15,000 (₹1,800 employee). If that is you, type ₹15,000 as monthly basic here, not your full basic.
