Hours × rate × a multiplier

Overtime Pay Calculator

Factories and shops in India may owe overtime at a multiplier set in the Factories Act, Shops and Establishments Act, or a wage settlement — often 1.5× or 2× the hourly rate. This page multiplies hourly rate × hours × multiplier. ₹300 × 12 × 1.5 = ₹5,400. It is a rehearsal, not a labour-court computation of “ordinary rate of wages.”

Why CTC is not in-hand

A CNC operator in Pimpri-Chinchwad and a retail closer in Bengaluru both get overtime verbally. Writing ₹5,400 down changes the conversation with a supervisor. Statutory caps on daily OT hours still exist in many laws; this tool will cheerfully multiply 80 hours if you type them, which does not make 80 hours legal.

What we subtract

Pay = hourly rate × hours × multiplier. Defaults: ₹300, 12 hours, 1.5× → ₹5,400. Hourly rate from a monthly salary is often monthly / (26 × 8) in factory practice — compute that offline if HR uses it.

IT/ITES employees on “consolidated CTC” may be excluded from OT in their contract; that is a legal classification fight this arithmetic cannot win.

State Shops and Establishments pages and the Factories Act (as applicable) are the official texts. Indicative only.

12 hours at 1.5× in Pimpri-Chinchwad

An operator’s ordinary hourly wage is treated as ₹300. After a 12-hour OT week at 1.5×, IndiaKit shows ₹5,400. He compares that with the payslip OT line; a mismatch is a question for HR, not for a website.

Payroll is still the source of truth

No weekly-hour cap, no night-shift allowance, no PF on OT. Not legal advice. Multiplier 1.5 is an input, not a certified rate for your establishment.

Common questions

Is 1.5× the legal overtime rate in every state?

Factories Act overtime is commonly twice the ordinary rate in the central Act’s language, while some shops-and-establishment rules use 1.5×. Check the law that covers your workplace. The default 1.5 is only a form value.

How do I get an hourly rate from ₹30,000 a month?

Ask payroll which divisor they use (often 26 days × 8 hours). 30000 / 208 ≈ ₹144 an hour, which is not this form’s default.

Does OT increase EPF wages?

Sometimes, depending on wage definition. This calculator does not add PF.
