Naegele-style 280-day due date

Pregnancy Due Date Calculator

A common obstetric sketch dates pregnancy 280 days from the first day of the last menstrual period (LMP). An LMP of 1 January 2026 yields an estimated due date of 8 October 2026 on this page. It is not an ultrasound, not a diagnosis, and not medical advice. A gynaecologist in your city will redated from a scan.

A screening number, not a diagnosis

Families in Thrissur and Lucknow still count on fingers from LMP because the first clinic visit is weeks away. IndiaKit offers the 280-day count so the wait has a calendar hook, with a hard pointer to clinical care. Gestational age from IVF transfer dates is a different rule; do not use LMP then.

The estimate we use

Due = LMP date + 280 days. Default LMP 2026-01-01 → 8 October 2026. Naegele’s rule is sometimes described as LMP + 1 year − 3 months + 7 days, which agrees on a 365-day year and breaks on some leap alignments; this code adds 280 days directly.

Cycles longer or shorter than 28 days shift ovulation. The ovulation tool is a related sketch, also not medical advice.

Seek registered medical care. This site will not ask for medical record numbers or Aadhaar.

LMP 1 January 2026, due 8 October 2026

A couple in Thrissur enters 1 January 2026 as LMP and sees 8 October 2026. At the first scan in a Thrissur hospital the doctor may shift the date by a few days. They treat 8 October as a planning mark for leave, not as a promise.

See a clinician if a number worries you

Not medical advice. 280-day LMP method only. IVF, irregular cycles, lactation amenorrhea and complications need a clinician. Emergency symptoms need urgent care, not a calculator.

Common questions

Is 8 October a guaranteed birthday?

No. Term is a window. Many births occur in the two weeks around an EDD. Only a clinician should manage the pregnancy.

What if my cycle is 35 days?

Ovulation is often later; EDD may shift. Mention cycle length at the clinic. This page does not take cycle length (the ovulation tool does).

Can I use this after a positive urine test only?

You can get a date, then you still need professional antenatal care. A home test is not a dating scan.
