TDS versus tax liability, a difference
Tax Refund Estimator
A refund estimate is tax already paid minus tax that should have been due. If liability is ₹80,000 and TDS plus advance tax is ₹95,000, this page shows a ₹15,000 refund. If the signs flip, it shows additional tax payable. It is not the CPC intimation on incometax.gov.in, and it does not use your PAN.
A sketch, then the official portal
Salaried people in Gurugram watch Form 16, AIS and the ITR prefill disagree by thousands of rupees. IndiaKit subtracts two numbers you already computed (or took from a CA) so the direction — refund versus payable — is visible before you log into the portal.
Where the figure comes from
Difference = TDS − liability. If ≥ 0, label refund; else additional tax. Defaults: liability ₹80,000, TDS ₹95,000 → ₹15,000 refund.
Interest under 234A/B/C, rebate, and outstanding demands can change the real CPC result. Advance tax is lumped with TDS in the second field on purpose.
File and track only on incometax.gov.in. IndiaKit will not ask for PAN, OTP or bank account.
₹95,000 already paid, ₹80,000 due, Gurugram
Neeraj’s CA estimates ₹80,000 tax for FY 2025-26. His Form 16 and advance-tax challans add to ₹95,000. IndiaKit prints a ₹15,000 estimated refund. He still waits for the ITR acknowledgement and CPC, because AIS might reveal a missed savings-interest TDS.

Two-box subtraction. No 26AS import, no PAN, no e-filing. Official: incometax.gov.in. Indicative.
Common questions
Does a ₹15,000 estimate mean the refund is guaranteed?
No. CPC processes the ITR against AIS/26AS. Mismatched TDS credits delay or shrink refunds.
Should I include self-assessment tax in the TDS box?
If it is already paid toward this year’s liability, include it in the “already paid” field so the difference is honest.
Where do I check refund status?
On incometax.gov.in after you file. This website has no status API for your PAN — by design.
