km, miles, kg, pounds, litres
Unit Converter
Indian passports, US Amazon listings and gym plates do not share units. Ten kilometres is about 6.2 miles; mixing km with pounds is refused on this page so you cannot manufacture a nonsense conversion. Factors used are the international yard-and-pound definitions: 1 mile = 1.609344 km, 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg, 1 US gallon = 3.785411784 litres.
A number you need in a queue
A student flying from Hyderabad to Dallas, a nurse reading a US discharge summary in Vellore, and a cook converting a US gallon of oil in a Kochi bakery all need the same careful factors. IndiaKit groups units so distance cannot silently become mass.
How the lookup or formula runs
Convert via SI: value × factor(from) / factor(to), with km and litres as the SI-ish bases in this table. Default 10 km → miles prints about 6.2.
If from and to sit in different groups (km versus kg), the result is a message to pick matching types rather than a fake number.
Imperial UK gallons are not US gallons. This page uses US gallons only. Precious-metal tola and old seer units are not included.
10 km in miles for a Hyderabad runner
A runner in Hyderabad trains 10 km and wants the race-app equivalent in miles. The converter shows about 6.2 miles. She does not convert that figure into kilograms; the tool would refuse the mixed pair.
What we do not store
Six units only. US gallon, not Imperial. Rounding to one decimal in the display. Not a scientific metrology certificate.
Common questions
Is a UK gallon the same as this gallon?
No. This page uses the US gallon (≈3.785 litres). The Imperial gallon is larger (≈4.546 litres). Do not use this for UK fuel economy without converting.
Why did I get a dash instead of a number?
You asked to convert distance into mass or volume. Choose two units from the same family.
Can I convert Celsius here?
Not on this tool. Temperature needs an offset, not a single factor, and is not in the dropdown.
